OUR PRESIDENT, JARMAN J. KELSEY,
IS CALLING ALL MEMBERS TO THE 76th ANNUAL REUNION AND BUSINESS MEETING OF THE KELSEY KINDRED.
The 2017 reunion will be held in the Cromwell Connecticut area the weekend of September 8-10th.
Friday 6 PM-9 PM Registration and Hospitality will be held in the Kelsey Kindred suite at the Radisson hotel Cromwell, CT. We will have light appetizers and drinks. There are many area restaurants for dinner. Directions for all weekend activities will be available along with items from our store.
Saturday 8:30AM-12PM We will board a bus for a day of history in the Hartford area. Our first stop will be the Settlers monument and the Adventurer’s boulder. We will then move on to the Connecticut Historical Society where we will tour the facility and have a presentation on the founding of Hartford.
Saturday 12-1:30PM The bus will take us to Bushnell Park for a picnic lunch. Those wishing to can stroll around the park possibly enjoying a ride on the carousel or a trip to the top of the soldiers and sailors monument.
Saturday 1:30PM We are back on the bus and off to Newington Connecticut where we will tour the Enoch Kelsey house (Line of Stephen) built in 1799. Enoch was a farmer and a tinsmith. The home boasts free hand painted wall decorations, basement to attic wall paneling and a beehive oven fireplace.
Cost for the tour, bus and lunch are: $39.00 Adults and $32.00 for children
Saturday 5:30PM Meet in the lobby of the Radisson for group pictures before dinner.
Dinner will follow in the Lower Mezzanine. Dinner will include three options: Pan seared chicken breast topped with tomato, basil, fresh mozzarella, pomodoro and balsamic drizzle or Potato Chip Encrusted Cod or Top Sirloin with Demi Glace, sides: Garlic Red Bliss Red Potatoes and roasted vegetable medley and dessert. Adult meals will be $30.00 and children ages11 and under will be $20.00. After our meal we will hold our annual meeting and Jennifer Zinck, a professional genealogist, will speak on the subject of DNA testing and how it can be useful for genealogy. This should answer a lot of questions for us.
Sunday 12-3PM Our Sunday picnic will be held at Dinosaur State Park in Rocky Hill, CT. We will serve hotdogs and hamburgers and those interested can view the museum (pay on your own, $6.00 for adult 13 yrs. and older, $2.00 ages 6-12, children 5 and under are free). The park includes hiking trails and an arboretum and an opportunity to do some track casting.
Fee for the picnic will be $10.00 per person, children are free. Bring your own lawn chair if you have one.
Where to stay: We have made arrangements for a block of rooms at the Radisson Cromwell located at 100 Berlin Road Cromwell, CT 06416 phone (860) 635-2000. The cost per room is $99.00 per night plus tax. This rate will be held until August 9, 2017, so please make your reservations early.
