2008 Kelsey Kindred Annual Reunion
Bird in Hand Pennsylvania was the site of our annual Kelsey reunion held on September 12 – 15th. The Amish View Inn was our home base for the weekend. A total of 55 attended the festivities.
On Friday night we held our registration and hospitality night. Jarman Kelsey our new president, called our annual business meeting to order. We discussed membership, reunion plans for the following year as well as possible honorees for the remembrance book.
Saturday morning was a beautiful day for a tour of the area and a lesson in Amish life. We enjoyed viewing a movie, “The Amish Experience”, visited the farmers market, toured the Amish Homestead and had a guided tour of the countryside with stops for Amish products and crafts. After a long day of looking, learning and shopping some members made a stop at the Mount Hope winery. We gathered for dinner at the Stolzfus Farm restaurant in Intercourse, PA. This family style restaurant offered all the traditional Amish faire including shoe fly pie! After dinner we returned to our hospitality room for some Trivia fun! Lori Stein and Sue Hall were feverishly taking notes throughout the day in order to test the member’s knowledge of Amish culture. Everyone was involved and it was amazing how much we learned! Prizes were awarded for the highest scores.
Sandi Noel and Nancy Bowman were our hostesses for the fun and fact filled weekend. We would like to say thank you for all their planning and hard work. It was a wonderful success!
